ANZAC Day

Kempsey High students marched or presented wreaths at ANZAC ceremonies, all across Kempsey and the Macleay Valley on Monday 25 April. You made your school community very proud and we thank you for your participation in all of these important ANZAC events. Also a big shout out to our supportive community, who came and watched.

Kempsey High School also held its annual ANZAC Day commemoration in the last week of Term 1, acknowledging the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who served with the ANZAC forces during the first and second world wars, and showing remembrance for the peacekeeping operations of servicemen and women in Somalia from 1992 - 1995.

We were honoured to have many special guests in attendance, including Kempsey Shire Council Mayor Leo Hauville, veterans from the Kempsey-Macleay RSL sub-branch, with members of the T.S Culgoa Navy Cadets and 312 Squadron Airforce Cadets performing an honour guard and catafalque party for the ceremony.

Thank you to everyone involved, Fred Kelly, Sabina Hines, Breeanna Horne, and especially our student representatives Colby Keenahan, Justin Rench, Hannah Fraser, and Kiera Floyd, who ran the ceremony with professional finesse. A special thank you to our HSIE staff who coordinated the ceremony.
