Paterson Claim Their Second Victory For The Year

On Tuesday 1st of May, all students participated in the Westall House Cross Country day. It was a fantastic day with most students completing a 3km course around the school, and the 16 and older boys having to complete a 5km course. It was a great battle all day with students from all houses finishing in the top 10 earning their house extra points. However, it was Paterson just like the swimming sports earlier in the year, that achieved the most success. The overall scores were 1st Paterson 382 points, 2nd Lawson 309 points, 3rd Gordon 265 points and 4th Dennis 253 points.

Congratulations to Paterson for another crushing victory.

Year 8 Girls Volleyball Through to the State Finals

On Thursday 3rd of May, our Year 7 & 8 volleyball girls represented Westall at the Southern Metropolitan Regional Finals at the State Volleyball Centre. Both teams were up against tough competition with many of the sets very close and the sets going to a 3rd deciding set. Unfortunately our Year 7s just went down in their last game to miss the final. The Year 8s, however, made it through to the final after coming back from being down in the 3rd set to win. It was a similar story in the final, with the girls dominating the first set but then going down in the 2nd in a close one. In the 3rd set like good teams do, they managed to find a way to claw their way back into the match and ended up running away with the victory. They now have the opportunity to compete in the state finals to be held in November.

Congratulations girls and good luck for the state finals.

Kingston Cross Country

On Wednesday 23rd of May, a select few represented Westall in the annual Kingston Cross Country at Karkarook Park. There was some very tough competition, but all our students can hold their heads up high for going out there and giving their best. We had great results with a few top 20 finishes, but, the main highlight was Ambrose from Year 9 coming second in his event. A huge achievement which earned him a silver medal and an opportunity to compete at the next level in the Southern Metropolitan Regional Finals.

We wish him all the best.
