Assistant Principal Report

Assistant Principal - Mrs. Sue Simadri

Whole School Assembly

The Term 2 whole school assembly was held earlier this week. The main purpose of this assembly was to acknowledge student achievement. We recognised students who have been nominated as Aim High for two or more subjects by presenting each of them with an Aim High badge. (Aim High students are those who are working above the expected level as identified by their teachers.) We also acknowledged the tremendous effort that many students put into their work every day, through Personal Best and Achievement awards. Congratulations to all students who were awarded! We commend you for your focus and your efforts, and encourage you to continue to strive to achieve your best in Semester 2. It was wonderful to see a number of parents come along to applaud and celebrate their children’s achievements. Performances included two outstanding musical items, ‘I see the light’ from Tangled, performed by Thalia Wong and Yihan Wang, and ‘Don’t dream it’s over’, Crowded House, sung by Mr Clark, one of our EAL teachers. The audience was suitably entertained by both performances.

Mr Lanarus concluded the assembly by congratulating all students for their achievements and active participation during the semester, and encouraged them to continue putting their best foot forward.

Semester 1 Reports

Student mid-year reports are now available online and parents / carers can access these reports via Compass. We encourage students to review these reports with their Parents/Carers and develop a plan to address noted areas for improvement. It is important to then set related goals for the next semester, taking into account what students have achieved and any areas requiring changes. If you have trouble accessing the reports or you need password support, then please contact the General Office.

Parents can view Reports and upcoming events/ excursions that are occurring at the College by visiting the Compass Portal.

Please remember to log on regularly to check your child’s attendance, the latest news, and use Compass to contact teachers if needed. All parents should have their Parent Compass Login details. If you do not have these details, please contact the College on 9546 3233 and we can email or re-post this for you.

Course Information Night

The college will hold an information evening for parents on Tuesday, 24th July, to provide the necessary information for families to guide and support their children in making suitable subject/course choices for 2019. It is very important that families attend on this night to take advantage of the opportunity to, not only get the information, but to also speak with individual teachers about subjects and pathways. We look forward to welcoming you on the night.

Uniform

The end of term is a great time to wash / dry clean uniform items, including winter skirts, blazers and jackets. Students and parents are also advised to name all items. We usually accumulate a pile of ‘lost’ jumpers and jackets that we cannot get back to their right owner as they are not clearly labelled!

In addition, we expect that students organise to purchase or replace any damaged/lost uniform items over the two week break, and return to school on the first day of Term 3, in full school winter uniform.

Happy holidays!
