Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The Reading Challenge is underway!

Students have already accessed their Dashboard, entered books they are reading and/or finished reading and submitted book reviews – Well done!

A selection of books available for students in years 7 and 8 include:

  • Specky Magee and the Season of Champions - Specky’s form is looking good – is it good enough to win a scholarship to a prestigious sporting school? A knee injury see’s him side lined, and suddenly his future is uncertain
  • Alex Rider : Stormbreaker - 14 Year old Alex finds his Uncle’s windshield riddled with bullet holes – this is no accident – was his Uncle on a mission? Can Alex find the courage to discover the truth?

  • Walk Two Moons - Two tales intricately woven together – one funny, one bittersweet, creating a heartwarming, moving story of love, loss and the complexity of human emotions.

Some books suitable for students in years 9 & 10 include:

  • Game Changer - All it takes is one hit on the football field, and suddenly Ash’s life doesn’t look quite the way he remembers it. Impossible though it seems, he’s been hit into another dimension – and keeps on bouncing through worlds that are almost-but-not-really his own
  • Leah on the Offbeat - When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat – but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. Can she strike the right note when her life is less previleged, her mum is single and she is an only child?
  • The Whole of My World - Shelly ‘disappears’ into the intoxicating world of Aussie Rules Football – joining a motley crew of footy tragics. If Shelly makes friends with one of the star players, is she finally winning?

In addition to the Wantirna College Library collection students can access books from Eastern Regional Libraries.  Celebrating Volunteers

The Library would like to acknowledge our regular volunteer Di Bradley for her contribution to the Wantirna College Library and community.  Some of Di’s tasks include shelving, processing, and returning/issuing books and this makes a significant difference to our library facility. Thank you Di Bradley
