DIOCESAN CROSS COUNTRY TRIALS

Last Friday, 21 students went to Barraba to take part in the Diocesan Cross Country Trials. It was an ideal day weather wise and both the courses for the 2km and the 3km races were definitely a lot easier then the course at our own school cross country and our team members used this to their own advantage. Our team performed extraordinary well as we had a number of runners in the top 10 and/or top 20 in their selected event. Most of our runners bettered their time and/or place from last year. If there was an award for the best school cheering and encouraging their team mates, it would have definitely have been awarded to us.

Congratulations goes to both Angus (10 Year Boys) and Annie (11 Year Girls) who came 4th in their race. This means they have qualified to represent the Armidale Diocese at the Polding Cross Country Trials on the 7th June at Eastern Creek. We wish them both the best of luck.

Again thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who made the big effort to ensure that their child participated at these trials. It is very much appreciated.

SCHOOL OZTAG COMPETITION

The first semi final for our lunch time Oztag competition was held on Tuesday with Gorillas taking on the Rabbits. Both teams have shown a lot of improvement since the competition had commenced and it was clear to see in the quality of play that was displayed by both teams. It was a tight tussle throughout the whole game and both teams had a chance of winning in the final stages of the game. At fulltime, the Gorillas ending up winning as they defeated the Rabbits, 5 to 2.

The Gorillas now have a fortnights break as they will be playing the winner of the second semi final with the Monkeys taking on the Lions next Tuesday.  It will be interesting to see who the Gorillas opponents will be in the Grand Final on the 24th May.
