Reflection

Easter's fifty days if joyful celebration continues for another three weeks. During this time we are reminded over and over how close the risen Jesus is to us.

Eastertime will conclude at the end of autumn. Our days are getting shorter and colder. In some parts of our country, trees may have lost their leaves or leaves still on trees might be colourful shades of green, gold, red and brown. In others, many native plants have bloomed into flower. We have seen an eastertime filled with wonderful changes in our seasons and in nature, and also with God's message of resurrection and new life. There are many reasons for us to continue to sing "Alleluia!"

The coming of the Holy Spirit at pentecost is celebrated on Sunday, June 5, ending the Easter Season. We celebrate Ascension on the Sunday before Pentecost day. The week between Ascension and Pentecost is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. During this week, we prayer that all Christian churches will one day be united.

Prayer

Loving and glorious God,

we praise you with Easter joy

because Christ is our redeemer.

Through the eucharist we live with risen life

and share the mission of your son.

Keep us faithful to Jesus

who is always with us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen
