SCHOOL PRODUCTION

AIDA is COMING!

Aida is not far away! Work on our 2019 School Production is as busy as ever, from choreography to harmonies, to set painting to costume production, everywhere you turn there are people busy making the magic happen. In less than two weeks we’ll be transporting Lilydale back in time to ancient Egypt, telling a story of forbidden love, friendship and betrayal.

The show features beautiful ballads and catchy numbers, with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice, the same duo who created the soundtrack of The Lion King, amongst many other accolades. Radames (Benson Rowntree) is the captain of the Egyptian guard and betrothed to Amneris (Jess Clark) the Pharaoh’s daughter, yet fascinated by newly captured Nubian slave Aida (Ruby Damiani), oblivious to the fact she is the daughter of King Amonasro (Marley Keymer) and hence heir to the Nubian throne. Meanwhile, Radames’ father Zoser (Alex Mayne) has his own sinister plans to see his son take the throne.

Alongside rehearsing, students have been busy in other production roles as well. On Thursday night we had our annual ‘Painting Party’ where it was all hands on deck to paint boxes, costumes, tombs and many, many bricks. We really appreciate the help of all cast members who stayed back into the evening, and especially some wonderful volunteers, who aren’t in this year’s cast, including Mr Steven Clark. We also had our cast and crew t-shirts arrive this week and they look sensational!

There are still tickets available to purchase, so please follow the link on the school website and lock in your spot. Invite friends and family, and also consider our Saturday Matinee, as this is an Auslan interpreted show.

This production is shaping up to be an incredible and very moving performance, don’t miss out!
