STUDENT ACTION GROUPS

Care and Concern - Global

Students are busy organising multiple events including The 40 Hour Famine, in addition to a jelly bean guessing competition to raise extra funds for World Vision to assist them to aid communities in poverty.   Please support your children in their endeavours to help others.

Care and Concern - Local

Reading to Lockleys Preschool Children

During one of the Lockleys Preschool visits to Tirkandi, students of the Care and Concern Local Action Group organised to buddy up with the pre-schoolers and have a shared reading time. They also prepared  special bookmarks for the children to take away with them.

The groups are looking forward to meeting up again during our BOOK WEEK parade.

The group is working towards establishing contact with the aged of the community through the local Senior Citizens club and Serene Nursing home.

Environment and Responsibility-Local

Students have enjoyed tidying up the school grounds and planting native plants in the front garden of the school.

This week we will be learning how to check the quality of the water in the Torrens, as Steve from KESAB will be joining us during our meeting time to explain how it is done. He will leave the water quality kit with us so we are able to use it periodically.

The students are also looking forward to our excursion to the Patawalonga Creek where we will be helping the Conservation Volunteers to weed and plant.

Student Event Management

Students are in the process of organising two events for this semester. A disco night (R-2 and 3-7) and a supporters casual day. More information will be available in the near future. WATCH THIS SPACE!

Environment and Responsibility - School

Students have been involved in ensuring that LNPS is kept clear of rubbish and developing ways to keep the school yard tidy.

The group has started to discuss ways that our bins around the school promote better usage and in the coming months, pictures and slogans will begin appearing on them.

Students also joined the Local E and R group to plant native plants in the front garden.  Detailed information and keeping the area maintained will also be an area of focus for our group.
