Mother and Son Breakfast
Over three days last week, we were able to pay paid tribute to some of our wonderful College Mothers with a simple breakfast.
Mothers play a significant role in the life of their children and families.
Be they present or absent, a mother profoundly shapes the life of her children and who their children become.
As Marists, we see Mary, the Mother of God as an example of unwavering love through her life of goodness and holiness.
We extended our most sincere thanks to Rebecca Bromhead (CEO of Australian Marist Solidarity) for her time and over the three breakfasts. Rebecca spoke about her own role as mother, she reflected beautifully on Mary, our Good Mother and spoke with passion and compassion about Australian Marist Solidarity and the role they play in the world, supporting families and communities.
The proceeds of the breakfasts go to Australian Marist Solidarity. We are grateful for the support of all our College families.
The prayer reflection from the breakfast is recorded here:
We pray for older mothers whose children are grown
Grant them joy and satisfaction in a job well done
We pray for new mothers experiencing changes they could not predict
Grant them rest and peace as they trust you for the future
We pray for pregnant women who will soon be mothers
Grant them patience and good counsel in the coming months
We pray for mothers who face the demands of single parenthood
Grant them strength and wisdom
We pray for mothers who are raising their children in poverty
Grant them relief and justice
We pray for step-mothers
Grant them patience and understanding and love
We pray for mothers who are separated from their children
Grant them faith and hope

Grant them support and insight
We pray for mothers who have lost children

We pray for adoptive mothers
Grant them joy and gratitude for the gift you have provided.
We pray for women who desperately want, or wanted to be mothers
Grant them grace to accept your timing and your will
We pray for all women who have assumed the mother’s role in a child’s life.
Grant them joy and the appreciation of others
We pray for all those who are grieving the loss of their mother
Grant them comfort and hope in Christ’s resurrection
MATES Free Dress Day - Thursday 13 May
MATES – standing for Marists are taking everyone seriously and is the solidarity and justice umbrella for Marist College Ashgrove. MATES has as its standard Faith to believe; Courage to do. It is designed as a practical witness to our mission of making Jesus Christ known and loved.
The free dress day for MATES to be held this Thursday 13 May has provided some means to the ongoing Evening with our Friends of the street (or BBQ with the Homeless).
We offer our thanks to the classroom and pastoral group teachers who will collect the $2 gold coin donation.
Please wear neat casual clothes, enclosed shoes and a hat.
