Soroptimist International- Year 10 Girls
I, and ten other Year 10 girls were invited to an event held in the NAB building in the city on Monday, the 8th of August, hosted by Soroptimist International, which is an event to support making positive change in the world around us.
The organisation creates projects involving the help of young women in order to promote change within communities throughout the world.
The event began with a well prepared buffet breakfast with many varieties of food and beverages for all to enjoy. As breakfast concluded we were introduced to a woman who spoke about her dream as a 15 year old to be the face for change and how all of us can be involved in change just by being alive, and how our influence and perception of the world pave greater things.
We listened to two guest speakers, Dr Jess Murphy and Tanya Ha; they told us their story of how they landed into careers they didn’t expect or plan for when they were our age.
All speeches were inspiring and motivating; it really opened my eyes for my future and helped me discover who I am as a person.
I’d like to thank Ms. McLachlan and Ms. Woodward for the opportunity and a lovey morning.
