Data
At Staughton College, we believe that using assessment data to inform the teaching and learning that happens in our classrooms improves the learning outcomes for all our students. Teachers regularly conduct assessment of student learning and use these data to plan the intended learning for each individual student. Teachers and students work closely together to build the capacity of every student to be a Staughton Effective Learner, a student who is responsible, resilient and reflective.
Assessment data plays an important role in the work teachers and students do to improve both the learning and the teaching in our classrooms. Teachers are constantly assessing the progress made by students, and students are given the opportunity to reflect on their learning and, during conferencing with their teacher, set a challenging, yet achievable learning goal.
At Staughton College, we value effort, learning growth and student improvement. We value and celebrate the effort of students who have shown learning growth over a 6-month period, regardless of their starting level.
During the recent OnDemand testing, it was pleasing to see a number of students showing learning growth in the areas of literacy and numeracy, and we look forward to recognising the achievement of these students at upcoming assemblies.
Students and their families will shortly receive their term 3 interim reports. The assessments made by teachers on the interim reports are guided by careful consideration of all the assessment data available. It is therefore essential that students are consistently putting their best effort into every assessment they undertake, whether it be a baseline assessment, classwork, or OnDemand testing. Please have a conversation with your child about their effort in the recent OnDemand testing, and whether they demonstrated learning growth.
Please use this opportunity to ensure the office has correct contact details for your child, to ensure you receive all reports and other communication from the school.
