2020 Focus Goal: Personal Growth in an Atmosphere of Wise Freedom
At the time of writing our March Report we were beginning to grasp the impact of COVID- 19, but the restrictions were not fully implemented. Now, as we begin to come out of restrictions, many alumnae will be thankful to be getting back-to-normal whilst others will be facing the grim reality of the economic damage impacting on their livelihoods.
The Association is grateful that the School has launched a COVID-19 Financial Hardship Campaign, aimed at providing fees assistance to School families affected by this pandemic. We know that alumnae who are in the position to support this initiative will do so with generosity and kindness.
Our Annual Mass, AGM and High Tea has been postponed until May 2021 when a 2020/21 AGM will be held with a doubly-delicious High Tea and dual 60s and 70s Class Reunions.
We are continuing as Co-Presidents until May 2021, and are delighted to welcome our new committee member and Secretary, Krystal Salloum and new Treasurer, Jane Murfett with continuing Assistant Treasurer, Simone Eason.
COVID-19 has provided new opportunities too, and for us this started with our first virtual Committee Meeting, on Zoom, on 12 May.
It was most successful, extremely efficient and the beginning of us making more use of digital platforms. We are working towards being able to streamline some events and to be included in streamlined School events and ceremonies. This Zoom meeting will now go into our History Timeline! The first virtual meeting after 103 years of Alumnae Committee meetings!
We keep alumnae across our global network in our thoughts and care, especially those alumnae living in countries with massive death tolls and economic destruction.
Our special thanks to alumnae providing essential services and all those making incredibly challenging efforts to maintain businesses, services, communities and families during this crisis.
May the spirit of Cor Unum continue to imbue each and every alumna across our world with hope, courage and compassion.
