Bell Shakespeare Company:

The Bell Shakespeare Company's Players delivered a fast-paced staging of Shakespeare's Macbeth when they performed for year 10 English students this week. The performance provided students with an expert view of Shakespeare's play through the actors’ use of the idea of a rehearsal to explain and explore what Shakespeare intended with his writing and their own performance choices. The Players further demystified Shakespeare for the students in their staging of key scenes from the play and explanation of what exactly was happening and why, asking the students thought-provoking questions about character motivations. A number of students were also able to take to the stage with these esteemed actors as they performed roles such as "The Witches" and Macbeth's unfortunate best friend "Banquo".

Students reported on the performance that it helped their understanding of the play and were enthusiastic on the skills of the actors. The incursion successfully positioned the students to be able to write with authority when they complete their assessment later this term, telling teachers "now I know what I am going to put in my Macbeth piece".
