ALFRED HINDLE - Our State Athletics Champion - 1st Place and the GOLD MEDAL in the Shot Put!

At this year's State Athletics Championships, Alfred did amazingly. Held at Lakeside Stadium two weeks ago, in the 12/13 Boys Shot Put MC (Multi-Class) Alfred fought back hard to come away with a gold medal.  Alfred's classification in Multi-Class is T35 and F35. He threw  a PB at 7.31m, with his 1st throw 6.05m, 2nd throw 7.05m and 3rd throw a whopping 7.31m.

It was a very long day for both Alfred and his family, with the program being interrupted by rain, but on the whole the weather was lovely and they could not have been prouder of Alfred's achievements!

Alfred also came 7th overall in the state for the 200m MC and 10th overall in the 100m MC as well (see below)

They announced they had 103 MC athletes competing..... the most they had  ever had!

This was a great way for Alfred to finish his time at St Joseph's.  Who knows, we just may see Alfred in a future ParaOlympics!  We are just so proud of him.

District Lawn Bowls Day - Year 4s

Last Wednesday 12th November, all Year 4s competed at the Sorrento Bowls Club in the District Lawn Bowls Championships.  We sent three teams of 6-8 students and learnt how to play a new game, ably coached by the older members of the Bowls Club, before playing in a round robin.  While we didn't place, we all had an amazing time!  While we had no offers of parent helpers on this occasion, the extra teachers gave up their time to ensure the students did not miss out. Thank you to Mrs Birch, Miss Lumsden and Emma for their help.  Please offer your help this Wednesday 19th November if you are available to ensure that the Friendly Games Day can go ahead. Here are some of the fun photos from the Lawn Bowls.

SWIMMING IS A COMPULSORY PART OF THE PE PROGRAM which is reported on and all students are expected to participate unless they are deemed unfit to swim.

We have always been a very strong swimming school in terms of swimming competencies and this is largely due to the strong commmitment displayed by students (and supported by their parents), individualised swimming plans for students' abilities, extra-curricular Swim Squad opportunities and the maximum effort always demonstrated by our students.

An Operoo will be sent out this week with more details, but please start getting your bathers, towels and goggles ready and labelled.  This is always a worthwhile learning experience for the students.  Parents are welcome to come and assist poolside and please PRAY FOR WARM WEATHER!

Warm Regards,
