Wellbeing Update

As we reach the end of Term 2, the Wellbeing Team would like to celebrate some of the fantastic programs and opportunities that have supported student wellbeing across the school this semester.

3v3 Basketball Competition

A big congratulations to all students who participated in the lunchtime 3v3 Basketball Competition hosted by Daniel (student wellbeing officer) and Kim (youth worker). The competition was a great success, providing students with an opportunity to stay active, connect with peers, and enjoy some friendly competition. Congratulations to our winning team – Cannon Habib, Austin Rea and Isaac Detering– who took out the championship title!

Year 7 Bunji Program Completion

This term marked the completion of the first 7 Bunji Program for selected year 7 students, a social and emotional learning program designed to build students' wellbeing skills and resilience. Throughout the program, students developed increased social skills, improved emotional awareness and regulation, and learned a range of practical wellbeing strategies. These included calming breathing techniques such as bubble breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and other techniques to help manage stress and emotions. We are proud of the engagement and growth shown by the participating students throughout the program.

Successful Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser

The Wellbeing Team was fortunate to secure a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraiser this term. Thanks to the incredible support of staff, student leaders, and members of the School Council who generously volunteered their time, the day was a huge success! We would like to thank everyone who helped cook, serve, and support the event. Funds raised will allow the Wellbeing Team to continue providing valuable external wellbeing programs and opportunities for our students.

The Workshop Program

This term also saw the introduction of The Workshop Program, a hands-on learning initiative for selected Year 8 and 9 students. The program provides students with opportunities to develop practical skills while strengthening teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and resilience. Students have been working on some impressive projects, including the construction of an outdoor picnic setting and soccer goals for the school. We look forward to seeing future projects and the continued growth of students involved in the program.

The Wellbeing Team would like to thank students, families, staff, and community members for their ongoing support throughout the semester. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to continuing our wellbeing initiatives in Term 3.

Warm regards,

The Wellbeing Team
