Senior Years Report

As we reach the end of Term 2, I would like to congratulate all of our Senior Years students on their efforts throughout what has been a busy and productive semester. It has been one full term of crazy weather and A LOT of activities.

Our Year 10 students have navigated projects, exams and now work experience and continued to build the skills and habits that will support their transition into the senior years.

Year 11 students have completed their Unit 1 studies and are now reflecting on their progress as they prepare for Semester 2. Our Year 12 students have shown resilience and determination as they work towards their final year of schooling, with many recently completing practice examinations and preparing for the GAT. We are so proud of how you have been carrying yourselves.

Students have always shown up and embraced our school values by taking on range of opportunities outside the classroom, including careers and pathways programs, VET studies, workplace learning, leadership activities and community engagement (like Ms Pitcher’s literacy class, amazing!). These experiences continue to enrich learning and let our

community see how amazing Lara students are.

In the Senior Sub School, we are excited to welcome (back!) Mr Norman to the Senior Years team as our Year 10 Coordinator. Mr Norman brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for supporting young people. Come in and say hello to him.

A big thank you to our fantastic Senior Sub-School team – Mr Hauser, Ms Foster and Ms Borchard. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to support our students, families and staff each day, and their care, commitment and positivity make a real difference.

As we head into the holidays, I encourage all students to have a well deserved break, recharge and spend time doing the things they enjoy. Thank you to families and students for their ongoing support throughout the term. I wish everyone a safe, relaxing and well-deserved holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone back on deck in term 3.

Year 12 VM restaurant visit

Two of our wonderful Year 12 VCE-VM students, Kristal and Matilda, are currently completing a VET Hospitality Certificate through The Gordon. As part of their training, they gain valuable hands-on industry experience working in Davidson Restaurant, The Gordon’s restaurant.

Three of us- Ms Wilks, Ms Foster and Ms Macreadie- decided to see them in action and went for dinner. We were thoroughly impressed by their professionalism, customer service skills, and confidence in a real-world hospitality setting! Fabulous work girls!

We are incredibly proud of the way these students are representing themselves, our school, and the VCE-VM program. We encourage everyone to support our students by popping into the restaurant and experiencing the fantastic service and food on offer while helping our students develop their industry skills.
