It's a history making week at JFC as the term draws to a close, marking the end of an era. On Saturday, the demolition of E wing will commence, scheduled to be gone by the end of the break and the ground cleared for new buildings. This marks the end of 70 years, and an old style of education, making way for the 21st century and new learning.
There are exciting times ahead as we watch the construction take place before our eyes and I am really looking forward to what it will look like by the end of next year.
This week I visited Bayswater Secondary College, and met with the principal who has seen a significant change in the school over the past 3 years. Part of the change is due to new buildings and a promise of an exciting future. The students I spoke to commented on the difference it made to their learning, and definitely felt more positive about their learning.
The rest of this newsletter speaks of the high level of engagement of our current students and staff and you will be able to get a great picture of the variety of opportunities offered to the students at JFC. Last week I spent some time in the year 7 Maths class with Ms Saldham who joined us this term. The students showed us their dream school designs and shared the results of their recent Maths tests. A highlight of my job is seeing the students engage with their learning and be keen to share their successes - both in school and outside of school. We just heard this week that Karim Kaddour, year 9, is a national youth champion soccer - congratulations on a great achievement! I saw the year 11 students taking their first exams very seriously and feel confident that they will be well and truly prepared for year 12 in 2025. VCE units 1 and 3 are now completed - good luck to those students going on with unit 2 in year 11 and the sequential unit 4 in year 12.
Congratulations everybody on a fantastic first semester!
Read on and enjoy!
Have a wonderful break and see you in term 3.
