Outdoor Ed Camp

Surf Experience

During Term 2, Year 12 students studying Outdoor & Environmental Studies and the Vocational Major travelled to Anglesea and spent three days camping on Wadawurrung country.

Students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the coastal environment, many for the first time, and experience adventure activities such as surfing, snorkelling, and stand-up paddle boarding.

Highlights for the group included nighttime beach walks, a tour of the 1891-constructed Lighthouse at Aireys Inlet, and a Koori Education Session at Point Addis where students devoured freshly baked damper and ground natural rock to produce ochre body paint. This unique learning opportunity allowed students to delve into the Indigenous community’s relationship with the outdoor environment, making the experience both educational and enriching.
