Marine Studies

Ms Lorraine Reilly

On Thursday 20th June, the Year 9/10 Marine Studies students participated in a fantastic incursion run by the Marine Mammal Foundation. Students became dolphin taxonomists as they collected and interpreted data to identify dolphin species. In the hands-on activity, students measured and determined the species of dolphin. Burrunan dolphin populations were studied, and students explored how to use Burrunan dolphin sightings data and how to begin to identify dolphins in the population. The incursion was run by Matt Montemurro, who was amazing and enthusiastic and who inspired all the students. It was an invaluable  and innovative  learning experience for everyone involved!
