Principal's Report 

Dear SEPS Families, 

Happy Father's Day

Hoping all our dads, grandads and special father figures had a great day celebrating with family and friends yesterday. We hope you enjoyed your picnic lunch and Lego on Friday if you were able to make it. Unfortunately, I was at a conference in Healesville but the photos from the afternoon looked like it was a beautiful afternoon for our students and their special visitors. 

Highlights

It has been an amazing couple of weeks here at SEPS with so much to celebrate. Our Year 4s returned from a very successful camp. I would like to thank the many parents who sent emails to share their gratitude and acknowledge their teachers for the care and commitment that they showed to their students while they were away. 

We finished our three-week science aviation program which saw students ‘flying’ on a commercial flight, the Royal Flying Doctors service and a military cargo plane used for humanitarian missions.

Our Book Week Parade was a wonderful celebration of literature, reading and great characters. It was also a great start to our grandparents and special friends’ day. The Book Fair was a huge success. Our students benefit directly from the Book Fair. Thanks to our community's love of literature, all the books that were purchased throughout the week means that we have $1100 to spend on beautiful new books for our library. 

Months of rehearsals culminated in an outstanding performance at the Victorian State School Spectacular with sixteen of our superstars participating in the Mass Dance performances. The show truly was spectacular. It will be televised on Dec 18 and will be on free-to-air 'catch up' for a month if you are interested in viewing it. 

These events would not have been possible without the passion, commitment and hard work by our staff. We are so fortunate to have an amazing team of teachers and education support staff who go above and beyond to ensure that our school offers our students and wider community the best educational experiences possible. I am blessed to lead a team of professionals that will not only support me to make any initiative happen, but will come up with their own ideas and projects for our community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for another amazing term. Sandy East is a very special place to work and learn. 

End of Term

It is hard to believe that we only have two weeks to go before we rest and prepare for our final term. I was just looking at the calendar, and it is jam packed with events, so please ensure you take time to review the important dates section of the newsletter. Before we finish this term though we still have our ‘Write A Book in a Day’ event for some of our senior writers and of course Footy Day! 

Your help is needed...

A reminder to please spare 10 minutes to complete the Parent/Carer Opinion Survey. This is your opportunity to have a say in what we need to keep doing and where we need to improve. The survey data will be an important focus during our School Review at the beginning of next year. It will be used to set goals for the next four-year School Strategic Plan.  A huge thank you to the 51 families who have completed the survey. This however, is only a small representation of our community …17% in fact. We would love to hear from our other 245 families to ensure that we have a comprehensive understanding of our school community. The survey closes at the end of next week. We will resend the link via Compass.
