Mystery Treasure Box with a Winter Twist!
Students in Levels 1, 2, 3, 6A, and 6C have been 'drawing from observation' during mindfulness,using little 'treasures' hidden in boxes, which they used as a model to draw a realistic image. They then were challenged to come up with an imaginative idea to incorporate the 'treasure' into an environment with a Winter twist. We looked at lots of different winter accessories and symbols associated with Winter, and used oil pastels to create images that were solidly coloured in. Students then named and framed their work on white to finish off these beautiful creations. Fantastic effort everyone! Here are some fabulous artworks from Level 3
Flashlight!
Level 6A and 6C have been inspired by the book Flashlight by Lizzie Boyd, and have produced these beautifully detailed contrasting images using line and shape to create a story. These stunning works are currently on display in the level 6 area and the art room.

Mandarin
LOTE Mandarin Update
Prep students have been learning about family members in Mandarin. They have practised recognising and writing the Chinese characters for 爸爸 (dad) and 妈妈 (mum), and are becoming more confident using family vocabulary.
Year 1 students have been learning the names of different fruits in Mandarin. They have also begun writing simple opinion sentences, such as describing whether they like a particular fruit and whether they think it is tasty.
Year 5 students have been learning how to order food and drinks in Mandarin. They have practised asking and answering questions such as "What would you like to eat?" and "What would you like to drink?", while using measure words including 一份 (one serving), 一杯 (one cup), 一碗 (one bowl), and 一笼 (one basket).
Year 6 students have continued building their confidence in using measure words in Mandarin. They have been learning how to correctly use measure words such as 一件 (one item of clothing), 一条 (one long item, such as trousers), and 一双 (one pair), helping them create more accurate and natural sentences.

Level F- 2
Students in Levels F–2 have been further developing their striking and fielding skills through modified cricket activities. They have been practising bowling towards a target and batting a stationary or moving ball with control. These activities help students improve their hand-eye coordination, accuracy, teamwork and understanding of basic cricket rules.
Level 3 & 4
Students in Levels 3 and 4 have continued to develop their striking and fielding skills through modified cricket activities. They have focused on improving their bowling accuracy and applying effective batting techniques to strike the ball with greater control and power. Students have also strengthened their teamwork, communication and decision-making skills while developing a deeper understanding of cricket rules and game strategies.
Level 5 and 6
Students in Levels 5 and 6 have continued to develop their striking and fielding skills through modified cricket activities. Weeks 7 & 8 - Flight
Have you been into our airport to visit the terminal, fuselage and cargo hold?
We have continued our exploration of the physics of flight.
During Week 7, the inside of our aeroplane was the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Our patient, young Sammie, had broken an arm and been bitten by a snake! Fortunately, she was flown to Adelaide to receive urgent medical attention which saved her life!
Foundation - the students made and experimented with boomerangs.
Level 1 & 2 - caught the wind with paper kites.
Level 3 & 4 - investigated blades with paper and plastic helicopter blades.
Level 5 & 6 - started to plan the Safety Capsule for Captain Egg.
During Week 8, the cargo hold was being loaded for a Humanitarian aid drop to the mountains of Nepal. Students discussed what items would be needed after an emergency.
