Hello everyone

Welcome to this edition of ‘Healesville High Connections’ which covers all that has happened at our school over the recent term.

This ‘Connections’ newsletter allows us to share, through positive reports and stories written by staff members and students, the highlights of school life from throughout term two.

Healesville High School provides so many experiences and to our students, as always, thank you for embracing the opportunities on offer.

May I personally thank the school community of Healesville for the understanding and compassion shown in recent times, as we farewelled our much-loved former colleague, teacher, friend and mentor, Shelley Morley. The need to call a pupil-free day at such short notice, allowing Shelley’s final wish of a funeral service onsite at the school to be granted, would have undoubtedly caused hardship for many families and yet the inconvenience was accepted without complaint. For that, I am grateful and thankful. I am also grateful for the very many condolence and support messages received and thankful also, that we were able to offer a respectful, shared celebration of the life of a person who gave so much to our school, and who meant so much to so many in our community. Thanks to each of you for allowing that to happen.

In this edition you will have enough reading to keep you busy for many hours, so I won’t try to produce a list of every report. I will, however, thank every member of staff for providing to our students the countless opportunities you will read about. I am forever amazed by the dedication and passion of staff members, who share so readily with students their time, knowledge, interest and enthusiasm. I am grateful to work with such generous, caring and capable people.

Please put in your diaries the following dates:

August 28- August 30. Three nights of what promises to be brilliant entertainment as our amazing cast and crew of students and staff present the 2025 school production, Mamma Mia. What a great show it will be- make sure you get tickets to at least one performance, if not two or even three performances!

August 6. This is the official school pupil-free day, advertised earlier this year. All HHS staff, as well as many from ten local primary schools will gather in the Performing Arts Centre at school to further their understanding of neurodiversity and develop their ability to support students with conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological or developmental differences. No classes will be held on this day.

Thank you to each of the contributors to this edition and best wishes to all for the upcoming holiday period. As always, my thanks for the goodwill, support, and care consistently shown by the members of our school community.
