In 2021, Evans High School joined the Educational Pathways Program (EPP). The EPP has seen the successful completion and participation of students in a range of educational programs that assist in future career-making decisions.
Hello, my name is Veronique August, and I am the Educational Pathways Program Head Teacher Careers for Parramatta North. The Parramatta North region services Greystanes High School, Holroyd High School, Northmead High School, Redbank SSP, Pendle Hill High School, Arthur Phillip High School and Evans High School.
In my role, I am responsible for overseeing the EPP and working closely together with the Careers Adviser to ensure that students from Years 7-12 are transitioning into meaningful post-school pathways in further education or work, beyond traditional university pathways.
The EPP in 2023 has been busily working with students across all 7 schools by presenting them with a variety of courses, programs, excursions and specialist days to expose them to a range of industries and careers.
The EPP offers all students fully funded opportunities in:
- TAFE Start Your Future includes plumbing, automotive, early childhood, nursing, hair and beauty, barbering, animal care, painting and decorating, bricklaying and many more.
- TAFE Early School Leavers Program, where students have had the opportunity to study at TAFE as a pathway out of school.
- Head Start Pre-Apprenticeship Programs – this year we ran Electrotechnology, Automotive and Construction.
- Job Readiness Workshops run by Earnst & Young (EY), which is a whole-day workshop to prepare students for the world of work beyond school.
- Work Experience and our Get Back in The Game Program run by YourTown to support students who are disengaged from school or need extra external support to reengage in school or work.
In 2024 the program will be continuing, and we will be expanding in the Parramatta region with more programs on offer.
