The RAP Program

The RAP (Respect, Achievement & Pride) student program again took place at the beginning of Term 3 and the students involved had five sessions helping them develop their teamwork, resilience, communication, leadership, and life skills to prepare them for the real world.

Session 1 – An introduction to the RAP program including what each week focuses on and a session on respecting peers.

Session 2 – Taught students the importance of respecting themselves by looking both neat and tidy, and dressing with pride through learning how to tie a tie and how to iron.

Session 3 – Focused on hygiene, and the importance of looking after yourself and staying healthy.

Session 4 – Taught students the important skill of cooking a simple meal. Students made basic scones.

Session 5 – Students involved in the RAP program went on an excursion to the Blacktown Area Community Centres (BACCs) during Term 3 and the Marayong Centre during Term 4. They learned about issues relating to gambling, did another cooking session and learned other important life skills.

As demonstrated by the photos, students learned many valuable skills and enjoyed each session. However, it is safe to say the overall winners were the cooking session and excursions (sessions 4 & 5) as the students liked these the most.

A big thank you also goes out to Mr Elhaf, Ms Rainey, Nathan Waters (BACC), Ms Rani, Ms Boustani, Ms Bilgin, Ms Webster, Mr Khan & BACC for helping with activities and conducting sessions throughout the term. Without them, these sessions and the excursions would not have been possible.
