Canteen News
This term, we welcome Richard Kerr as our new Canteen Manager. Richard has an extensive background in hospitality and will continue to produce all of the tasty items on our menu.
In order to keep our canteen running at its best, we rely on the generous support of volunteers from our College community. Volunteering in our canteen provides a wonderful opportunity to be part of your child’s school life and get to know the staff and students your child shares so much of their time with.
We welcome mums, dads, grandparents, carers etc. Unfortunately toddlers/children are not permitted in the Canteen due to health & safety regulations. To ensure the safety of our students, volunteers are required to present a current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) check to the College Office.
You may wish to volunteer once a week, once a month or once a term. Any amount of time you give us is a valuable resource for the College and is sincerely appreciated. No experience is necessary. You will be guided through the preparation of lunches and the serving of over-the-counter purchases.
If you would like to be part of the Canteen team, please use the sign up via this link. Full information, including the registration process, on volunteering at Mount Carmel College is available on the Volunteering page of our website.
House Drama 2026
Our annual House Drama Competition was a fantastic showcase of creativity, teamwork and talent, with this year’s theme “The World’s Worst…”
From a disastrous formal to a sinister play and a very bad haunted house, Carmel, Lourdes and Loreto each brought the theme to life in their own unique way. With students taking charge of props, costumes, sets, lighting and sound, and rehearsing through lunch breaks, the commitment behind each performance was impressive. A huge congratulations to Lourdes House, our 2026 winners!
And thank you to local performer Emma Skalicky for judging three very entertaining performances.
Well done to all our students for their creativity, hard work and House spirit!
You can watch all the amazing performances here:
Last term, Neave Riches (Yr 9) was named the winner of the Australian & New Zealand Burns Association (ANZBA) student artwork competition, which called for artwork that promoted the message "Cool the burn for 20 minutes" and reflected the theme "Diversity and Inclusive Health Care for burn injured patients and their families, friends and carers across all ages and our staff,". This picture shows how Neave's artwork has been incorporated into the promotional material for the upcoming conference.
Allergy Awareness: Working Together to Keep Our Community Safe
Mount Carmel College is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students, including those at risk of anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.
As part of our Allergy Aware approach, we ask families to avoid packing nut spreads, such as peanut butter and Nutella, or foods containing peanuts and tree nuts. Families are also encouraged to be mindful of other common allergens, including eggs, dairy, sesame, seafood and kiwi fruit, particularly where a class allergy has been communicated.
We also remind families to encourage children not to share food, utensils or drink bottles and to wash their hands before and after eating.
The College supports allergy safety through staff training, student education, allergy awareness signage, and up-to-date Anaphylaxis Action Plans and emergency medication for students at risk.
While it is not possible to eliminate all allergens from the school environment, working together helps minimise risks and supports the safe participation of every student in school life.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our Allergy Aware approach.
