Welcome Back to Term 4

Welcome back to all families.  We hope you all enjoyed a restful break and had some time to recharge. It’s wonderful to see our students back in the classroom, ready for the final stretch of the school year.

Term 4 is always one of the busiest times on the school calendar - mind you what term isn’t busy. Between end-of-year events, celebrations, assessments, Step Up Days and preparations for next year, there is a lot happening in a short space of time. It’s an exciting term, full of opportunities for our students to showcase their learning, celebrate their growth and build memories with their classmates.

Busy terms can also be tiring terms. Students can feel the pressure of a full schedule, so we encourage you to prioritise sleep, healthy routines and some downtime at home wherever you can. Small habits, like regular bedtimes, a nutritious breakfast and a calm morning routine, make a real difference to how students feel at school.

With so much on, please keep an eye on The View, the College Facebook page, SeeSaw and emails for key dates, reminders and event details. If you’re ever unsure about something, please just reach out to your daughter’s class teacher or call Student Services to ask.

Our strongest school community is built on partnership between home and school. Thank you for your continued support, and for the care you show your children and our staff every day.

Here’s to a positive, productive and joyful Term 4. We look forward to finishing the year on a high note, together.

The Importance of a Class Teacher

If you have any concerns this term, whether about learning, friendships, wellbeing or changes at home, please speak with your daughter’s class teacher first. They know them well, see them every day and are best placed to understand what’s happening and respond quickly.

You can contact your child’s teacher by email to arrange a time to chat. If further support is needed, your teacher will work with you and our leadership team to make sure your child gets the help they need.

Welcome Back to Mrs Reynolds

This term we welcomed back Mrs Jasmin Reynolds from leave and it has been wonderful to have her back at the College.  For our Kinder parents I invite you to try and make some time in the busyness of your day to pop in when you have an opportunity and introduce yourself.

Learning Conversations

This afternoon and next Tuesday is the last for 2026 of our Learning Conversations across the Primary.  If you are yet to book it is too late for this afternoon but I encourage you to make a booking as soon as possible as we would like all parents/guardians to be involved.  A reminder to Year5 and 6 students you are to attend.

Buses and Expectations

Our dedicated school bus service is making the trip to and from school easier for our families every day. It gives students a reliable way to travel and takes some of the morning and afternoon rush off parents and carers. Many students also tell us the bus is one of the best parts of their day, with time to chat with friends, share stories and arrive at school ready to learn.

Behind every smooth trip is a driver focused on getting our students there safely. We can all help by following the bus expectations, which are there to protect every passenger.

A few important reminders:

  • Seatbelts on, every trip.
  • Tap on every time. Tapping on helps us know who is on board, so every student is accounted for.
  • Kinder to Year 6 students sit towards the front.
  • Keep voices at a calm level. Chatting is great, but loud noise can distract the driver from the road.
  • Stay seated and keep the aisle clear.
  • Be respectful. Use kind words and good manners with the driver and with each other.

When students follow these expectations, the whole bus runs better, and the driver can give the road their full attention. Please take a moment to talk through them with your daughter.

Wearing Our Uniform with Pride

At Mount Carmel College, our uniform is a tradition that connects every student, past and present, to a community built on respect, belonging and pride. When we wear it well, we show the wider community who we are and what we value.

The uniform puts everyone on equal footing, from Prep to Secondary, and reminds us that we are all in this together.

Pride is in the details: a summer dress of the correct length, a blazer worn to and from school, and the right socks and accessories.  The blazer is the most visible sign of “Mount Carmel College,” on the way to school, on the way home and everywhere in between. Wearing it consistently shows that our pride doesn’t switch off at Sandy Bay Road or Quorn Street.

Our PE uniform matters too. Students don’t need to wear tracksuit pants to and from school, but every student should have them. When selected for a team sport such as our upcoming Athletics, students are expected to travel to carnivals in full uniform.

Generations of Mount Carmel students have added to the school’s reputation through this uniform. When you wear yours properly, you honour those who came before you and set the standard for those who follow. Wearing it well costs nothing.
