From the Assistant Principal: Head of Junior School
As I reflect on a wonderful and eventful Term 2, there is so much to celebrate across our Junior School. It has been a term filled with achievement, creativity, community and countless opportunities for our students to shine.
What a spectacular way to celebrate the talents of our Year 5 students! It was truly magical to see Mary Poppins Jr. come to life on stage after months of dedication, rehearsals and teamwork. Every student should be incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, commitment and confidence they demonstrated throughout the production. From the outstanding performances to the backstage support, the musical showcased the creativity and collaboration that make our Junior School so special. A big thank you goes to our Performing Arts staff and the amazing Year 5 teachers.
There was certainly plenty of fun, laughter and Felicity in the air at last Friday night's Hawaiian Luau Disco! More than 200 Junior School students came together for an evening filled with dancing, singing, games and wonderful community spirit. Seeing the smiles on the girls' faces as they celebrated with their friends was a wonderful reminder of the importance of opportunities that build connection and belonging.
Events such as these rely on the generosity and support of many people. Thank you to our Year 6 Captains, staff and the Events Team for their outstanding work in planning and running such a successful evening. Funds raised through the disco will be donated to Mary Ward International, supporting educational opportunities and community development for girls and women around the world.
Over the past term, it has been a pleasure to welcome families into the school for our showcases. These occasions have provided students with the opportunity to proudly share their learning, celebrate their achievements and reflect on the progress they have made throughout the semester.
I have been incredibly impressed by the creativity, confidence and enthusiasm displayed by our students. It has also been wonderful to see the strong partnership between home and school, with so many parents and caregivers taking the time to celebrate these special learning moments alongside their daughters.
As we conclude another busy and rewarding term, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for their enthusiasm, encouragement and support. I wish everyone a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break, and look forward to another exciting term of learning and opportunities in Term 3.

Mary Poppins Jr. - practically perfect in every way!
Our Year 5 students this week delighted audiences with two wonderful performances of Mary Poppins Jr., bringing the beloved story to life with energy, enthusiasm and creativity. From the memorable musical numbers to the colourful characters and engaging storytelling, the Year 5 cohort should be incredibly proud of all they achieved throughout the rehearsal process and performances.
The production showcased not only the students’ musical and dramatic talents, but also their teamwork, resilience and willingness to embrace new challenges. Their commitment and effort were evident in every aspect of the show, resulting in a truly magical experience for audiences.
A production of this scale is only possible through the dedication of many people. Special thanks go to our Year 5 Music Teachers and Classroom Teachers for their guidance and support throughout the process. We also acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our Tech Crew, Year 9 Stage Crew and the Senior School Music Leaders, Holly, Lucy and Cleo, whose assistance helped to ensure the production was a success.

A Morning of Inspiration: Students Attend Australian of the Year Breakfast
Recently, two Junior School students and six Senior School students represented the College at the Australian of the Year Breakfast held at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
The morning began with a meaningful Welcome to Country by Uncle Mickey, a highly respected Senior Aboriginal man and a direct descendant of the Kaurna and Narrunga peoples. His words highlighted the importance of connection to Country, culture and community.
Students then heard from a range of inspiring speakers, including James Currie, Malcolm "Mac" Benoy, Ayesha Safdar and Chloe Wyatt-Jasper. While each speaker shared a unique story, they were united by a common commitment to creating positive change and improving the lives of others through advocacy, innovation, creativity and service.
A highlight of the event was hearing from the 2026 Australian of the Year, astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg. Katherine captivated the audience as she shared her remarkable journey from Australia to the frontier of space. Through stories of perseverance, courage and determination, she encouraged students to dream big, embrace curiosity and never be limited by what others think is possible.
One of Katherine's key messages was that "Space is not about escaping the Earth, but about helping us see it more clearly." She spoke about her deep connection to the stars, known by the Kaurna people as Sky Country, and encouraged everyone to look up with a sense of wonder and possibility.
Katherine also shared a powerful message about the importance of encouraging girls and young women to pursue opportunities in STEM. Her own journey demonstrated that with curiosity, resilience and hard work, there is no aspiration too great to achieve.
The breakfast was an inspiring experience for our students, reminding them that through courage, determination and a willingness to take risks, they too can make a positive impact on the world around them. As Katherine reminded the audience, with a little courage, determination and grit, even the stars are within reach.
