Grade 4

Literacy

In Literacy, our Year 4 students are currently enjoying The Wild Robot by Peter Brown as part of our novel study. Through the text, students are developing their comprehension skills while exploring characters, themes and key ideas. Alongside our reading, students are learning how to write persuasive letters, focusing on expressing a clear opinion, supporting ideas with strong reasons and evidence, and using persuasive language to convince their audience. We are looking forward to seeing their persuasive writing skills continue to grow!

Numercy

In Numeracy, our Year 4 students have been developing their understanding of angles and location. Students have been identifying, describing and comparing different types of angles, as well as using grid references and directions to locate and describe positions. They have enjoyed applying these skills to practical activities and challenges, building their mathematical reasoning and ability to communicate their thinking clearly.

Bricks 4 Kids Excursion

Our Year 4 students had a fantastic time during the Bricks 4 Kidz incursion! Working with a partner, students followed step-by-step instructions to build their own LEGO robots. This hands-on experience connected beautifully to our current novel study of The Wild Robot, allowing students to explore the idea of robots and technology in a fun and practical way. Students developed their teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills while having plenty of fun creating and testing their robots.
