Guardian Masks

Our Grade 1 and 2 students have been exploring the vibrant and imaginative work of Sri Lankan-born Australian artist Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran. Inspired by his bold sculptures and expressive guardian figures, students designed and created their own unique guardian masks.

Through this project, students experimented with shape, pattern, colour and texture, using their creativity to develop imaginative characters with their own personalities. It has been wonderful to see the students embrace the playful and expressive qualities of Nithiyendran’s work while creating truly individual artworks.
