This fortnight the P-2 students re-explored the Forces, Gravity and Push and Pull. This involved learning about the push and pull of water in oil by making a mini Lava Lamp. Students also learnt about Gravity. Gravity is what pulls everything down towards earth. Students tested cars on various ramps/angles and made paper helecopters, spin tops and pringle parachutes.
In the 3/4 area, students continued to learn about the role of technology in various jobs. This week students were Architects and Builders. They used Cava to create a blueprint plan of a mini studio apartment. They were then given the job of creating a landmark building or sculpture to increase tourism in Lockington. We had some excellent farming/animal sculptures, sheering sheds, buildings and parks.
In the 5/6 area we began to learn about Light Energy. We brainstormed where light comes from, how it travels in a straight line and conducted a number of experiments with torches, laser lights and black lights. Students also researched Bioluminescence and completed an experiment around this concept.
This week students looked at how transparent, translucent and opaque items impact light energy. Students investigated what happens when you put an image in a glass and made suncatchers to demonstrate these concepts..
Our students have been busy developing their Auslan skills the last two weeks! They have been revising and building their expression and confidence withsongs, colours, greetings and emotions, while continuing to develop their understanding of Auslan communication.
To support their learning, students have enjoyed playing a variety of interactive games and exploring stories in Auslan. These activities have provided opportunities to practise new signs, build vocabulary and, most importantly, have fun while learning a new language.
We are now extending our vocabulary and learning the names of family members and different animals in Auslan. Students are enjoying learning these new signs and using them in games, stories and conversations.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and confidence our students have shown so far this term. They have been working hard and are excited to share their learning with our school community.
We are especially looking forward to our special Auslan performance this Thursday as part of the Art Exhibition. We can’t wait to see our students put their skills into action and share their Auslan learning with everyone!

P.E NEWS
INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Well done to our Grade 3–6 students who competed at the Interschool Athletics Carnival in Moama this week. Our students did a fantastic job representing themselves and our school with pride.
It was wonderful to see the determination, sportsmanship and willingness of all students to give their best in every event. We are very proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout the day and congratulation them on their efforts and achievements.
Congratulations to Harvey C, Charlette N, Charlotte N, Sully N, Hudson N and Heidi P who have qualified to compete at the Division Athletics Carnival, which will be held later this term. We wish them all the very best as they continue their athletics journey!
A big thank you to the families who came along to support and cheer on our students throughout the day. Your encouragement and support were greatly appreciated.

LCS ATHLETICS DAY
Our Prep–6 students had a fantastic day competing in the events at LCS Athletics Day on Wednesday. All students should be very proud of their efforts and achievements, and it was wonderful to see everyone encouraging and cheering each other on throughout the day.
Congratulations to our Age Champions (Willow F, Sully N, Charlotte N, Davey M, Thomas G and Isla J) and well done to Green House for being crowned the overall winners!
It was also wonderful to see so many parents and families who were able to come along and support our students. Your encouragement helped make the day even more special.
A massive thank you to our staff, who did a fantastic job organising and running the events throughout the day. We appreciate all your hard work in making the LCS Athletics Day such a successful and enjoyable event for our students.
