School Council Update

The EPS School Council met on Monday 14 September in the green zone.  We opened the meeting by welcoming 3 new members.  A big thanks to:

The “playground feedback session” also noted lots of positive feedback about the school in general, with particular mentions for the Grade 3 Camp Day and Father's/Carer's Day Lunch.

Other parent events coming in term 4 include the Annual Parent Party plus we have the State Election “Democracy Sausage Sizzle” and Cake Stall on November 28. Time to get your bake practice in before our huge Election Day Bake Off!!!!

Prep positions for 2027 have been offered with 70 offers currently accepted and a further 6 positions for out of zone students to be offered/accepted.

Key Agenda Items

Uniform Shop

The council approved a motion to relocate the school uniform shop from the volunteer school based shop to a local professional uniform retailer.  The price paid by EPS families is on par with current prices across the range of uniform offered.

Finance 

The school continues to be in a stable financial position but parent contributions are still below previous years levels and below current budget estimates.  A reminder to all parents that school contributions are a huge factor in making EPS the great school we all love sending our kids to. 

Buildings and Grounds

Chrill Till is doing an amazing job establishing the EPS Building and Grounds Master Plan – which when finalised will set the long term direction for key infrastructure requirements for the school. This is a key step in the application for funding through the government and other school grants.

A motion was passed to approve a new front fence along Murphy St. The new fence will be significantly higher than the current fence in order to meet government guidelines on school safety.   Parents and carers will notice a change to accessing the school during school hours once the fence is complete, with school access between 9:15am and 3:15pm only via the Murphy St Gate. All other gates will be locked. 

Education and Policy

The Homework Policy was discussed with parents able to expect more information on this in term 4.

 A motion was passed to approve the purchase (via a lease) of 2 banks of 30 Laptops to be used by students. These laptops are required with the removal of the previous BYOD policy.
