Science

We are continuing to enjoy our topic for this term – Physics: Forces, Energy and Motion.
So far students have explored what physics is all about, and investigated force types and the many factors that impact an object’s movement. All grades have participated in several investigations exploring force and motion, where they have needed to engage in the scientific process of making predictions, investigating, recording results, discussing findings and drawing conclusions.
This week our mid to senior classes moved onto investigating a different form of energy – sound. Students enjoyed exploring a “sound lab” where they tested the sounds made by various items and instruments, categorising them into low or high pitch sounds and soft or loud sounds. Our senior students were challenged to think of the corresponding sound wave that each sound would create! Next week our junior students will enjoy exploring sound whilst our older students will move onto investigating light, another form of energy!
