F/1

A big well done to everyone - we are officially half way through Term 2!

Over the last 2 weeks, we have been busy with our learning in the F/1 class.

LITERACY

We have been busy exploring the parts of purpose of narratives. The children have been practising planning and illustrating the different parts of a story, on their own and in small groups. Collaboration helped the Foundation children to create a fun story about a dog in a secret tree house, while the Grade 1s wrote and illustrated their story about a witch stealing their bread!

NUMERACY

In Mathematics, our continued focus on place value has seen the children building a deeper understanding of the values of tens and ones. They have been working hard, using manipulatives (such as MAB blocks, unifix cubes, bead strings and tens frames) to deconstruct and reconstruct numbers.

RELIGION

In RE we have been focusing on the story of Easter. The children have been creating timelines of the Easter story, which have now lead to the celebration of Pentecost. We drew and filled in the outlines of flames, to represent the Holy Spirit visiting the Jesus' Disciples to decorate our room. These flames represent the importance of making good decisions, as Jesus taught us.

SHOW & TELL

We have so enjoyed listening to the stories and books that each of the children has brought in this week. It has been wonderful to listen to the children as they have read their favourite, most special books to us all.

We can't wait to see the special things that remind us all of our families in Week 6!

ON THE YARD

This week, we were lucky enough to enjoy a special lunch, of sausages and burgers. The children ate their delicious lunch all together, and were undeterred by the grey skies and light rain!

We have also been lucky enough to begin playing on our new school playground. The children officially jumped onto the playground on Monday, and brought many smiles, laughs and laughs back into the classroom.
