Autumn Days in Grade 2/3/4! 🍂

We are already midway through the term, and despite the cold weather settling in, the classroom is absolutely buzzing! It has been an incredibly action-packed fortnight. I am so proud of the fantastic energy the students bring to their learning every single day as we breeze through this beautiful autumn season.

📐 Maths & Literacy 📚

In Maths, we have been diving into the world of measurement. The students have been busy exploring length—comparing millimetres, centimetres, metres, and kilometres—and mastering how to convert between the different units, and how to read measurements in scale, such as maps.

Meanwhile, in Literacy, we are nearly at the end of our class novel, "Yirra and her Deadly Dog, Demon." This term, we have also started doing 10-minutes of focussed reading each day. Alongside our reading, the students have been consolidating their knowledge of prefixes (like "un-") and practicing how to thoroughly plan for effective, creative writing.

🌍 Inquiry & Religion 🙏

Our Inquiry unit has taken us deeper into the concept of "Community," where we've been exploring how we, as individuals, can make a positive difference in the world around us. Meanwhile, in Religion, we continued our Easter journey by reflecting on the story of Jesus's resurrection and discussing the meaning behind various Easter symbols.

✏️ Assessment Season!

It is that time of the year again where we begin completing our assessments. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their hard work and check their progress in both Literacy and Maths.

🦎 Community Moments 🐾

Our Pet Wall is coming along beautifully! A big thank you to everyone who has sent in photos of their beloved family pets. We also had an exciting visit from a friendly neighbourhood lizard this fortnight down in the playground! We were lucky enough to snap a picture of our scaly friend and decided they deserved a special spot on our Pet Wall too.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Betts
