Student Spotlight

Congratulations Maddie – Yagilaith Bound!
We are thrilled to share that Maddie in Year 12 has been accepted into Yagilaith, a prestigious and highly competitive program hosted by Murrup Barak at the University of Melbourne.
Shared with our students through our Careers Advisor, Ms Worker, this opportunity is part of a nationwide initiative offering only 30 places to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 11 and 12 students.
With more applications than places available each year, Maddie’s acceptance is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of her passion, initiative and commitment to her future.
Running during the Victorian school holidays from Monday 7 July to Friday 11 July 2025, Yagilaith will give Maddie the chance to:
Discover the study options, scholarships, and accommodation available at the University of Melbourne
Attend the ‘A Day at Melbourne’ event, including a lecture, campus tour, and Q&A with Student Services
Connect with current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff from various faculties
Take part in workshops on aspiration, goal setting, and future planning, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander facilitators
Stay at a Residential College, experiencing life on campus
Visit Murrup Barak and explore culturally significant sites around Melbourne’s Koorie Community
Build friendships with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from around the country
We are incredibly proud of Maddie and grateful to our Careers Advisor for highlighting this life-changing opportunity. Maddie’s selection shows the strength of her aspirations and her growing leadership as a proud young woman of her community.
Congratulations, Maddie – we can’t wait to hear about your Yagilaith experience!
