Introducing Mr Brian Trumble

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to our community Mr Brian Trumble who has taken on the role of Business Manager since the start of Term 2. Brian comes to us with a wealth of experience as a Business Manager, having held this position in a number of independent and Catholic schools. Brian’s last role was at St Thomas Moore College in South Australia and previous to this held the Business Manager role at both Mentone Girl’s Grammar and Pulteney Grammar School in South Australia.

We welcome Brian to our community and feel blessed to have someone with his level of experience and expertise managing our financial and business affairs.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

On Friday, 9 May we had the privilege of welcoming our Mothers and Special Persons to our inaugural Mother’s Day breakfast. It was wonderful to see so many students with their mothers or special person join us for breakfast and it was a great opportunity for parents, students and staff to mingle over coffee and some tasty treats. I felt blessed to be part of the day and look forward to the next opportunity to welcome parents onto campus for a celebration.

The following is a transcript from a speech made by the actress Audrey Hepburn that I think beautifully pays homage to mothers around the world.

“Motherhood is the most exquisite gown I’ve ever worn, stitched with sleepless nights, embraided with worry, yet radiantly beautiful in its purpose.

A mother’s heart somehow doubles in size without breaking, learns to accommodate both fierce protection and gentle release.

On this Mother’s Day I think of all women who nurture through presence or memory by birth or by choice how we form an unbroken circle across time, teaching what cannot be taught, that true elegance is found in loving so completely that your heart beats outside your body.

To those whose mothers now exist as whispers in the heart rather than arms to hold, remember that a mother’s love never truly leaves, it becomes the light by which you navigate the world, and to those just beginning this journey, know that in the beautiful chaos of motherhood you are creating the memories that will someday be someone’s most precious inheritance”.

Reconciliation Week

This past week Lakeside College hosted Reconciliation Week. Lakeside College's Reconciliation Week was designed to strengthen our ongoing commitment to meaningful reconciliation, supporting the 2025 theme of Reconciliation Week “Bridging Now to Next”. This past week, while representing just one component of our year-round commitment, we sought to highlight the historical and contemporary challenges faced by First Nations peoples while focusing on creating pathways toward a more unified future. Through carefully designed and crafted experiences, we sought to deepen our community's understanding while encouraging respectful and inclusive practices that honor the rich heritage, knowledge and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The week was particularly special because we engaged our entire school community in diverse events designed to foster education, reflection and dialogue, encouraging all Australians to learn about our shared histories and cultures and explore how they can actively contribute to reconciliation. Together, we tried to reflect on past lessons and move forward on this shared journey, ultimately contributing to a sustained culture of mutual respect, trust, and genuine inclusiveness.

Lakeside College maintains an up-to-date Reconciliation Action Plan and Reconciliation Week serves as a foundational platform from which deeper learning and understanding can develop, through the creation of meaningful connections that extend into and beyond the national observance.

Heavenly Father, Creator of all,

We come before You with hearts open to healing and unity. In this National Reconciliation Week, we acknowledge the pain of our shared history and seek Your guidance toward understanding and peace.

Your Word reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:18 that “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” Empower us to embody this ministry in our school community, fostering respect and compassion among all.

We pray for the strength to listen, the courage to learn, and the wisdom to act justly. May Your Spirit lead us to build bridges of understanding and to walk together in harmony.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour,

Amen.

In Christ’s love,

Mr Robert Tassoni
