A message from the Kilvonian Alumni Committee President, Sarah Lim (Class of 2003) (R)

Dear Kilvonians,

As 2025 draws to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the highlights of another memorable year for our Alumni community.

A particular joy has been witnessing the continued growth of the Alumni Choir, which has truly gone from strength to strength. Bringing together graduates from across the decades, the choir has once again demonstrated how music can bridge generations and create meaningful connections. The commitment and camaraderie of the choir members, and their shared love of performance continue to fill me with great joy. Performances by the choir added a special touch to Kilvington events including the School Fair and the Annual Concert. Thank you to David Ashton-Smith for masterfully leading the choir, and to Kay Chim for her skill and dedication in accompanying them each week.

Our monthly Walking Club has also continued to flourish. We now have a wonderful core group who join us regularly, along with new faces each month. It is always a pleasure to catch up with some of you in this setting, and I look forward to meeting even more of our Alumni community in the year ahead.

This year, a group of Alumni enjoyed a day out at the theatre to see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Featuring an outstanding cast of Australian performers, the show delivered an electrifying and energetic performance. Thank you to those who joined us, it was a memorable outing.

In October, I had the privilege of speaking at the Valedictory dinner to welcome the newest members of our Alumni community, the graduates of the Class of 2025. Congratulations on the successful completion of your secondary education! The Kilvonian community is incredibly proud of all you have achieved and the contributions you have made to the school community. As you take your next steps, wherever they may lead, know that your Kilvonian family is right behind you, cheering you on and excited to see what you do next.

This year has also seen reunions take place across the cohorts. It is always heartwarming to hear stories and memories, look back on photos, compare uniforms and fashion trends of the day, and witness the joy of reconnection. Thank you to everyone who attended a reunion in 2025 and helped make these events so special.

Looking ahead, the Alumni Committee is already planning an engaging calendar for 2026. As always, we welcome your ideas and hope to see many of you at our events throughout the year. Your ongoing involvement, creativity, and spirit are what keep our community thriving.

Before I sign off, I want to acknowledge the fabulous members of the Alumni Committee: Sarah McSwiney, Ellie Piestch, George Crossingham, Rachel Cetrola, Peter Yu, Kate Bryant and Libby Hillman. This group meet several times throughout the year, and our alumni events would not be the same without their contributions and ideas.

I would also like to acknowledge Kilvington staff including School Principal Rob French, former Director of Marketing Camilla Fiorini, current Director of Marketing and alumnus Lauren Simpson (Class of 2000), and especially Bianca Lapins, Kilvington’s Community Relations Officer, who plays a pivotal role in every reunion and is instrumental in supporting all our events. Without the dedication of this committed group, the Alumni Committee could not offer the rich range of activities and opportunities that help strengthen connections across generations of Kilvonians.

On behalf of the Alumni Committee, I wish you and your loved ones a safe and joyful holiday season. Thank you for your continued support and participation.

Warm regards,

Sarah Lim (Class of 2003)
