Students enjoy the bright spaces in The HIVE

Awards for The HIVE

Kilvington is delighted to share that our new science and technology centre, The HIVE (stands for Harmony, Innovation, Vision and Excellence), was recently recognised with not just one, but two awards at the Learning Environments Victoria and Tasmania Chapter Awards Night.

The HIVE was named Best Small Build (under $15 million) and also took out the coveted award for Best Overall Build. The judges praised its flexible and future-focused learning spaces, strong community connection, sustainability practices and the way the building fosters collaboration, creativity, wellbeing and hands-on engagement with systems and technologies.

Congratulations to all staff and Board members who worked closely with our architects throughout the development process, along with those who submitted submissions on how this transformative space is being used by staff and students.

Judy Allen Award 2025

The prestigious Judy Allen Award recognises and honours a member of our community who has made an outstanding contribution to the School over a sustained period. The award is presented each year at Celebration Night, with the winner receiving a framed certificate and their name being added to the Honour Board in Dalton Hall.

This year we simply couldn’t decide between two very strong nominations. As such we are delighted to announce the joint recipients of the Judy Allen Award for 2025 are Mrs Wendy McManamny and Mrs Marnie Turner.

Wendy has been a parent at Kilvington since 2014. She regularly attended PFA meetings and volunteered in numerous roles including coordinating the Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, selling flowers for the Cancer Council’s annual Daffodil Day appeal, serving as PFA Treasurer and later Secretary, assisting with the secondhand uniform shop and facilitating fundraising efforts through the Entertainer membership.

Wendy has also been a dedicated volunteer in the School Library and has crafted many items for Kilvington’s ELC and countless costumes for Book Weeks, living out the Kilvington motto of Not for our own but others good

Marnie has been a valued member of the Kilvington community for the past 14 years. Over this time, she has generously given her time and energy in many ways by attending PFA meetings, serving as a class social representative (CSR) for many years, coordinating stalls at numerous school fairs and acting as the PFA Secretary.

Her most significant contribution has been via the secondhand uniform shop (SHUS) where she has supported countless families in finding quality uniform items and has revived more than a thousand donated items, displaying the true spirit of dedication and service.

Congratulations Wendy and Marnie!

Canteen Redevelopment

We are delighted to report that progress on the redevelopment of the School canteen continues on schedule, with the space being transformed into a wonderful and inviting muti-purpose space for all.

In fact, the Latin word omnibus, taken from the Kilvington motto, means “for all”. In a fitting nod to Kilvington’s history and values, the new canteen will be known as the Omnibus Café, where student, staff and the broader Kilvington community can gather and connect.

Any Alumni who wish to be part of this special project can still make a contribution via the Canteen Fundraising page here. Every donation, regardless of the size, will help us reach our goal and is very much appreciated.
