FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION MASS
On Thursday 15 August, the Mater Dei Catholic College and Mater Dei Catholic Primary School Communities came together to celebrate Mass in honour of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary holds a sacred place in the mission of both our Schools, which are named in Latin, Mater Dei - meaning; Mother of God.
The theme of our Mass was 'The Magnificat', Latin for 'My Soul Magnifies the Lord'. Mary’s heart, full of love, always points us to her son, Jesus. Mary shows us the way. She heard the promise, her heart swelled with love, she was filled with grace, and conceived the Lord who is love incarnate.
We thank Father Grace for celebrating this Mass for the Mater Dei Communities, his support and encouragement of us in the life of our faith is so valuable. We thank Mrs Kylie Chacon, Mrs Rebecca McGowan and the Mater Dei Primary community for hosting the Mass.
May the prayers of this woman clothed with the sun bring the joy of Jesus into our waiting world. Let us pray…
God of love,
May we be strengthened to be servant people with open hearts
and minds, ready to do your will.
Inspired by Mary’s heart, full of love
may we live as faithful and trusting disciples.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
CARLO ACUTIS EXHIBITION
Blessed Carlo Acutis is about to be cannonised as the world's first official millennial saint. The Wagga Diocese is very fortunate to be hosting a Eucharistic exhibition designed by Blessed Carlo along with some relics of the Saint.
Our College is thrilled to be hosting the exhibition in Week 8. Students and staff from Mater Dei Primary, Sacred Heart Primary and our College have been timetabled to view this extraordinary exhibition.
The Vatican Exhibition of Eucharistic Miracles was compiled by Blessed Carlos Acutis who began this work at 11 years of age and died in 2006 after finishing it at the age of 15 years, just 3 days after being diagnosed with an aggressive Leukaemia. In 2025, in the Jubilee Year of Hope, he will be canonised. The display hosts a first-class relic of Blessed Carlos to be venerated with the Exhibition.
For our students, the call of God can sometimes seem very distant
to the daily reality of their lives. It is helpful for them to encounter a
young person who has walked the journey of faith and said yes to
God in their lives.
TERM 3 YOUTH MASS
Our Term 3 Youth Mass will be held this Saturday 31 August at 5.30pm, at Sacred Heart Parish, Kooringal. Please join us for this student-led Mass, which will incorporate music and contributions from our three Parish Schools; Sacred Heart Primary, Mater Dei Primary and Mater Dei College.
NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION WEEK
We acknowledge National Child Protection Week during 1-7 September. In 2024, the message that 'Every child in every community needs a fair go' will be complemented with the theme 'Every conversation matters'. During this week we renew our commitment to work together to ensure that every member of our community gets a fair go, is supported and feels safe.
PRAYER FOR NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION WEEK
Loving God we pray for the Safety and well-being of all children and adults at risk. Protect them from harm, and surround them with your love. May they grow in a world where they feel safe, valued, and cherished. Amen.
