Chaplaincy Book Fair

Horsham College’s Chaplaincy Committee are thrilled with the success of their first Book Fair for the year, with an incredible $6,042.60 raised from the sale of pre-loved books.
Hundreds of community members attended the event during its 12 hours of operation on Friday 9th May and Saturday 10th May in Maroske Hall. There were babies in prams and the elderly on walkers as well as every age in between, with everyone taking away a book or two to treasure.
The biggest single sale was more than $150 with the book loving couple making numerous trips back and forth to their car to load up their 150 books!
Several energetic Year 9 classes helped set-up the Book Fair, moving boxes of books donated by the public and categorised by faithful volunteers. When the doors closed on the sale at noon on Saturday, Rotary East stepped in to help the committee members pack-up, with Wastebusters recycling any tattered books, and Rotary taking all remaining children’s books away to deliver to needy communities.
All money raised is used to pay the salary of the chaplain at Horsham College and support students via the regular Brekky Hub and Faith Fans events. The next Chaplaincy Book Fair will be held in late October and any school parents interested in joining the Chaplaincy Committee are welcome to come along to the next meeting in the Horsham College Administration Building at 5pm on Thursday, June 5th .
