Reconciliation Week
This week we show our support for Reconciliation Week. A time for us to continue to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. At Horsham College we are proud to explore how our students can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The theme of ‘Bridging Now to Next’ calls for us to move forward and to let the past lessons guide us. We will be supporting Reconciliation week with a number of planned activities including a special assembly on Friday, a community walk, a colouring competition and playing music for our bells by Indigenous artists.
Respect
We are incredibly proud of the College Community we have here at Horsham College, where our students are provided with endless opportunities. Our dedicated teachers and support staff go above and beyond in educating our students. Everyday our College values are being shown by our staff. If you receive communication from your child’s teacher, it is because they have concerns about a behaviour, their learning, their wellbeing. It is because we care and we are asking for support from our parents and guardians in working together to ensure that every child receives the same opportunities. Afterall, ‘it takes a village to raise a child.’
School sport
Horsham College is a very successful school and a very well represented school at school sport. All students have the opportunity to be a part of school sport and showcase their talents representing Horsham College. With this comes incredible trust that the behaviours at school are matching the opportunities presented. Students attending school sports are expected to have exemplary behaviour. If students are not displaying Horsham college Values at school then they will not be chosen to represent Horsham College
Uniform
It definitely feels like we are prepared for Winter with the last few days of cold temperatures. We remind parents and guardians that we have a uniform policy. A uniform policy allows our students to feel that they belong to our community. It promotes unity and equality. As a College, we are preparing our students for their futures and in many of these futures, they will be required to wear a uniform. Wearing uniform is not a choice, it is an expectation. We are always happy to support in whatever ways we can. We also ask that uniform is in good condition. If your child’s puffer jacket has the insides of the jacket being visible, we can also assist with sewing it back together.
Leaving School Throughout the Day
A reminder that we need to know when students are leaving school early for appointments or if they are feeling unwell. Just like at work, leaving without notifying someone can be dangerous. If we have an emergency situation throughout the day, we need to account for every student who has been marked present prior. Parents and Guardians can contact the front office or their child’s year level office.
Sharing in our Community
At Horsham College, we love hearing about the achievements of both our current students and past students - please don’t hesitate to send through to us any achievements that are happening.
Take Care,
