Wonderful 1

One-derful Class Chronicles

Term 2 Week 8 2026 -  Friday 12th June

What have we been up to?

Over the past two weeks, students have been working incredibly hard across all areas of learning and should be very proud of the effort they have shown. They have completed a number of assessments in Reading, Writing and Mathematics, demonstrating their growing knowledge and skills. It has been wonderful to see students approach these tasks with confidence, persistence and a positive attitude.

In Reading and Writing, students have been creating their own information report fact files, applying their understanding of headings, topic-specific vocabulary and organising information into sections. In Mathematics, students have continued developing their addition and subtraction skills using a range of strategies and materials to solve problems and explain their thinking. In Science, students have begun exploring materials and chemical reactions through hands-on investigations, making predictions, observing changes and recording their findings.

A huge congratulations and thank you to Miss Amber for her efforts during the Swimming Trials. The students have been cheering loudly and we are all super proud of her!!

Reading & Writing

Over the next fortnight, students will focus on developing their grammar and sentence construction skills. They will practise writing complete sentences using correct punctuation, capital letters and appropriate spacing. Students will also explore different sentence types and learn how to expand their ideas by adding descriptive details and using conjunctions to connect their thinking.

Maths

Over the next fortnight, students will begin our unit on Time. They will explore the days of the week, months of the year and the sequence of events throughout a day. Students will also learn to read and interpret analogue and digital clocks, focusing on o’clock and half-past times. Through hands-on activities and real-life examples, they will develop their understanding of how time is measured and used in everyday life.

Science

In Science, we will be beginning a unit on materials and chemical reactions. Students will explore different materials and investigate how they can change when mixed, heated, or combined. Through a variety of hands-on experiments, students will observe and record different reactions. They will share their findings using drawings, simple explanations, and scientific language.
