Visual Arts / Culture Studies

All students completed their Elements of Art artwork, demonstrating their understanding of the seven art elements: line, shape, space, colour, value, texture and form. Through a range of drawing and design activities, students explored how artists use these elements to communicate ideas, create visual interest and express creativity. Students carefully considered how each element contributes to an artwork and applied their knowledge to create unique and imaginative pieces.

Year 3/4 students also focused on the art element of shape by creating a collaborative paper collage inspired by colourful geometric artworks and the work of artist Reggie Laurent. Students explored how Laurent uses shape, colour and repetition to create vibrant and engaging compositions. They experimented with arranging a variety of geometric shapes, considering balance and visual impact within their designs.

Some students have already begun creating their artworks. However, due to the upcoming swimming program over the next two weeks, the majority of students will begin working on their fundraising artworks next term.

Further information about ordering and product options will be sent home once the artworks have been completed.

We are looking forward to celebrating our students' creativity and giving families the opportunity to turn their child's artwork into a special keepsake to treasure forever.

Examples of the keepsake products available through the Crazy Camel Fundraising Program are shown below. 🎨✨

PE

Due to the swimming program in the last two weeks of term and the public holiday and curriculum day, students in all classes had their last PE lesson for the term last week. We finished off with our final lesson on rugby skills and then allowed the students to pick their final game to finish the term. It has been a very enjoyable term of PE, with students working together with sportsmanship and encouragement.

I’m sure those participating in the swimming program will have a great time as well as learn some important safety skills around water.

I’m looking forward to moving to a new centre for our program this year.

Music Newsletter

Preps:

This fortnight in Music Prep students have continued practising different rhythms by clapping crotchets, quavers, minum and crotchet rests. Students have also continued exploring first nations culture through a number of different Aboriginal songs and artists. They learned to sing “My Island Home” performed by Jessica Mauboy and learned the sitting song and dance called Taba Naba.

1 / 2

In Years 1 and 2, students have been continuing to build their knowledge of rhythm and took time to practise clapping different patterns using crotchets, quavers, minims and crotchet rests. They also continued their learning of the ukulele and began practising transitioning between the chord C Major and A minor.

3 / 4

Students in years 3 and 4 have this week used their knowledge of the guitar to explore the similarities and differences between the guitar and the ukulele. They practised strumming patterns using their thumbs and finger nails, moving in an upward and downward direction. Students also learned to play a number of different chords, including C Major and A Minor.

5 / 6

In Year 5/6, students have been planning out a storyboard and script for their advertisement of an object. They have decided how to structure their advertisement and use a variety of different shot types. Whilst only some students have begun filming their advertisements due to the public holiday and curriculum day, each class will get an opportunity to film and edit their advertisement early in Term 3.
