THE VILLAGE

The Village: Supporting Student Wellbeing Together
In our last edition of The Village, we explored the idea of success in school and how connection, encouragement, and a supportive environment help young people thrive. It has been fantastic to see these ideas come to life over the first few weeks of the school year, particularly with our Year 7 and Year 8 students, who have made a really positive start to the year.
Starting a new year of school can bring a mix of excitement and nerves, especially for our Year 7 students beginning their secondary school journey. Over the past few weeks, we have been incredibly proud of the way our students have embraced new routines, built new friendships, and approached their learning. Our Year 8 students have also shown great maturity as they step further into their role within the school, supporting one another and continuing to build strong connections within their year level. They also make great role models for our incoming students.
A highlight of the start to the year has been the Year 7 and Year 8 camps, which provided students with an opportunity to strengthen friendships, challenge themselves, and develop teamwork and resilience outside of the classroom. Camps are an important part of building a sense of belonging within a year level, and it has been wonderful to see students encouraging one another, stepping outside their comfort zones, and sharing plenty of memorable moments together.
Below you will find a selection of photos from the Year 7 and Year 8 camps, capturing some of the great experiences our students have had so far this year. These moments highlight the positive culture we are continuing to build at Korumburra Secondary College, where students feel connected, supported, and ready to learn.

We look forward to seeing our Year 7 and 8 students continue to grow, learn, and thrive as the year progresses.
