School Guidelines & Student Wellbeing

Uniform
As we approach the cooler months, we have noticed a few non regulation items appearing.
We take great pride in offering a high‑quality, comfortable uniform with options that allow every student to feel confident and at ease in their daily learning. Wearing the uniform correctly helps build a strong sense of belonging, supports school pride, and ensures students can participate safely in all activities.
The uniform options and uniform policy have been developed, and are reviewed by the School Council, consisting of parents, staff and students.
We appreciate our families’ ongoing support in helping students uphold these expectations.
Pants
Students who choose the pants option for regular school wear must wear tailored dress pants as outlined in the uniform policy.
Tailored dress pants are pants with a zip fly, waistband and straight cut leg.
Tracksuit pants or leggings are only permitted as part of the full sport uniform.
Shirts
A branded school shirt is a required part of the uniform for all students who wear pants or skirts. The school jacket and VCE jumper are optional outer layers and should not be worn in place of the school shirt.
Shoes
For safety and OH&S reasons, all students must wear polishable, lace‑up leather school shoes (except during PE and sport lessons). If a student requires an exemption, a letter from a registered medical professional is needed.
Jewellery
To maintain safety and simplicity, students may wear:
Up to two studs or sleepers in each ear
One stud in the nose
Other jewellery, including large earrings, is not permitted as it can pose a risk in the classroom and school grounds.
Hair
Hair must be of a natural colour. This means students who dye their hair Blue, Purple, Pink or Green will be requested to have the dye removed.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting a uniform that reflects our pride, unity, and commitment to a safe learning environment.
Supervision arrangements before and after school hours:
Student safety at Parkdale SC is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before and after school
Parkdale Secondary College grounds are supervised by school staff from 8.35am until 3.20pm. Outside of these hours, school staff will not be available to supervise students.
Before and after school only the following areas will be directly supervised:
• 8.35am – 8.50am – Front of school
• 3.08pm-3.20pm – Bus interchange
Students who wish to attend school outside of these hours are encouraged to attend the library, which is open from 8.00am - 4.00pm, report to extra-curricular activities, or attend to the Senior Centre (Year 11 & 12 only). Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a supervised extracurricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. ESP, STEP, AEP).
A copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy is located in the School Documentation link on Compass.
