Thank you to all of our CAPA students who have worked so hard during Term 3 on so many CAPA projects, including Dance Spectacular, HSC CAPA Evening, Year 11 CAPA Evening and HSC Practical Examinations.  The CAPA Faculty are so proud of you all!

What an unforgettable night celebrating the incredible talents of our HSC Creative and Performing Arts students during Public Education Week. From captivating music performances to a stunning Visual Arts Gallery, every element of the evening showcased the hard work, passion, and creativity of our emerging artists, they were definitely "inspiring excellence". A heartfelt thank you to the students, staff, and families who brought this vibrant event to life. Bravo!

Congratulations to our amazing Year 11 CAPA students!  What an incredible evening filled with outstanding music, dance and drama performances and a stunning visual arts display. The talent, creativity, and dedication of the students was truly inspiring.  A huge thank you to our staff and families for supporting these young artists as they continue to grow and shine in their creative journeys.

Huge Thank you to our Event Management Team.  This leadership team of students have worked tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that not only CAPA Events are set up and ready to go, but all school events.  They also manage the paper Recycling across the whole school each week. Well done team, we love your work!!! 

We also want to take this opportunity to thank the Year 12 members of the Event Management Team.  You have been excellent role models for the younger members of the team and have worked so hard at all events. Kaitlin Madsen, Leonardo Santos, Jaimi Apps, Luca Upton and Keanu Rodriguez, you will be missed!!   

School Musical 2027

Next year Elderslie High School will be presenting their 23rd Musical.  Our students have already declared their interest in participating via a Google Form, but it is not too late to let Ms Dennis know you would like to be included.  “So, what Musical will be doing in 2027?”.  Stay tuned!!

Dance and Drama

Well Done to Elderslie High School Dance Students for putting on a wonderful Dance Spectacular! The show is a highlight of the year and the dancers did not disappoint. The performers from Dance Ensemble, Transition Dance Ensemble, Ballroom Dance Ensemble and the Pasifika Ensemble entertained the audience along with our partner primary school students from Cobbitty PS, Spring Farm PS, Mawarra PS and Elderslie PS. Thank you to the CAPA staff, Alysah Bliss and Ella Santa Maria for compering the night and all of the Parents who came to watch and supported the students along the way.

Congratulations to the Pasifika Boys and Girls Dance Ensembles for performing at Spring Farm Public School as part of their Multicultural Day. They performed a Samoan Siva, Fijian Hymn and Haka with passion and celebrated their culture at this event. 

Congratulations to the Year 9 Drama class, Year 11 Drama class and the Drama Ensemble on their performance at In The Spotlight Drama Festival 2026. They performed on Monday 3rd August at Campbelltown Arts Centre and represented Elderslie High School admirably. Congratulations to Ella Santa Maria from Year 10 and Chloe Young from Year 9, for their excellent work as the comperes for the 7.45 pm show. 

Music and Entertainment

This term, Year 9 Music students have been learning about Film Music as their topic of study. They have been examining various film composers and how all elements of music, foley and dialogue come together in films. Over the last few weeks Year 9 have been working diligently on their assessment task; recording and arranging sound effects and musical phrases that suit a chase scene from the film Flushed Away. 

Year 11 Music performed at their CAPA Evening in week 6 featuring a wide variety of instrumentation and musical styles. CAPA Night featured Electric Guitars, Drum Kits, Pianists and Vocalists. Students performed many songs by various artists such as Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac, Travis Scott, Kelly Clarkson and many more. Congratulations Year 11 Music class for presenting an amazing show!

Congratulations to Year 12 Music class, on completing your HSC Music Practical Examinations. All students presented four performances each on a wide variety of musical instruments and genres. 

The Year 11 Entertainment class have been working tirelessly behind the scenes at various events throughout the term such as Dance Spectacular, Year 11 CAPA Night and Year 12 CAPA Night. These students assisted with lighting, vision and sound during bump in, operation and bump out. Congratulations Year 11 on a great first year of Entertainment.

The Vocal Ensemble has continued to grow throughout term three, with students regularly rehearsing to develop their singing technique and repertoire. The group has been working hard to prepare a selection of songs for future performances and is looking forward to sharing their work with the school community at the Presentation Ceremony later this year. We are excited to see the ensemble continue to develop and look forward to their upcoming performances!

Visual Arts 

We're thrilled to showcase the incredible artwork of our Year 7 students! For Assessment Task One, the students explored the vibrant world of Albert Namatjira, creating their own stunning watercolour interpretations and enhancing them with unique collage elements. Year 7 were challenged to bring their imagination to life, blending traditional techniques with modern creativity. Year 7 have spent this term learning about the environmental issues facing the Great Barrier Reef, making and painting their ceramic reef tiles and studying the ground breaking artist Jason deCaires Taylor.  

So far this term Year 8 have been exploring Pop Art through the works of Roy Lichtenstein, that they have used to inspire their appropriated still life artworks that reflect their own world and interest. The students are moving on to create a collaborative project of Pop Art inspired food sculptures using recycled materials to problem solve their way through the process. Year 8 have had a fantastic year in Visual Arts and have an amazing collection of artworks to display next term at CAPA Evening. 

All of the work of our Year 7 & 8 artists will be on display at the Year 7 & 8 CAPA Evening on Thursday 3rd December 2026 from 6.30 pm in the School Hall.  Put this date in your diaries!!!

Year 10 have been working so hard on their still life paintings in term 3 while beginning to explore our printmaking unit of work in recent weeks. The students have been researching their  flora and fauna designs to transfer onto their linocut inspired by plants and animals of their interest. The students have worked exceptionally well this year in creating artworks inspired by their world as a source of inspiration and we look forward to seeing their final prints next term. A number of the students' artworks from Term One were selected and entered into the Fisher's Ghost Art Award and will be on exhibition from Saturday 26 September – Friday 04 December at the Campbelltown Arts Centre.  This is so exciting for the students to see their artworks in a gallery space. 

Congratulations to Year 11 on finishing their Preliminary Course in Visual Arts and moving forward into their HSC course next term. We had an exceptional CAPA Evening where the students curated and displayed their artworks for an audience. The students have been working really well this year to develop their ideas into artworks and practice the technical skills that they will be developing into their HSC Body of Works starting next term.  

Year 12 worked so hard this year to put together an exceptional display of technical development and refinement in the creation of their artworks. Congratulations to the students on the monumental effort that they have put into creating their artworks that were a testament to their commitment to the course. We are so proud of them for all their hard work and commitment to learning new skills, resolving old ones and pushing themselves to be uncomfortable in their artmaking to feel success and grow in ways that they did not think were possible last year. Congratulations to Year 12 on submitting their HSC Bodies of Work.  Study hard and all the best in your HSC Exam!

This term the students in Visual Arts Club have been making their artworks for experimentation and enjoyment this year.  Some students also created artwork for the Stadler Competition  and Incognito Art Competition. This term the students have been planning and starting their artworks for the ANZAC Art Competition.  

CAPA Support - Visual Arts

This term, students in the Support Unit have enjoyed their new mission in learning what it takes to become an artist, studying Distortion Portraits in the CAPA Visual Arts program. Students have explored the processes and techniques involved in creating distorted art, examining how artists use exaggeration and abstract elements to express emotion. They have conducted an artist study, gaining insights into the styles and methods of distortion portrait artists, particularly the use of grids that students used to create their own distortion celebrity portrait artworks. Students have set up their Visual Arts Process Diaries and appreciated the opportunity to create posters to emphasise their understanding of distortion. Next term we will be focusing on Dance.
