Life in the LRC

Welcome to 2026!

In particular, Mrs Ford and Ms Beavis would like to welcome all our new Year 7 students, and those who have joined us going into other year levels.

The LRC staff would love you to come and visit our vibrant and inclusive space, whether it be for learning or relaxation.

Our library offers students various opportunities in keeping with our college’s values of Curiosity, Compassion and Community.

Last year saw the very successful introduction our Library Assistants program. 15 students from all levels applied, embracing their new roles within the wider school community, both with enthusiasm and dedication. In September, the students and library staff were fortunate to travel to the city to take part in a State Library Tour, followed by a visit to a local bookstore to purchase a book of their own choice to add to the newly revamped library collection.

Due to the success of the program in 2025 we have not only decided to continue this initiative in 2026 but to introduce a new ‘Library Captain’ role.

This person/people will be a key advocate for our well-loved library and actively contribute to its future growth. The successful applicant/s will also oversee our library assistants and develop a schedule of tasks for the year. This unique opportunity will give the successful applicant/s a chance to gain new skills and abilities, along with many leadership qualities and ICT skills which will help you with future school and work prospects.

If this opportunity interests you, and you are committed to the role, please forward your expression of interest by Friday 13th February.

Applications are now open to students in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12.  Forms can be collected from the library or front office.

Library Lovers Day – February 14th

Library Lovers' Day, celebrated annually on February 14th, is a special day to show your appreciation of libraries, librarians, and the vital role they play in communities worldwide. Originating in Australia, it encourages people to "show the love" for their libraries by visiting, borrowing books, or participating in various library events.

We would love you come into the library and help us to complete our special display.

Write a message, draw a picture or simply telling us why you love our space.

Take a peek at what has been done so far!
