This is your space.

These optional morning sessions are designed to help you improve the skills that move your marks.

WHAT WE’LL FOCUS ON

Essay Writing Skills

  • Turning ideas into clear, analytical paragraphs
  • Writing stronger evidence + explanation
  • Moving from retelling - interpreting
  • Developing more sophisticated language and sentence control

Using Quotes Effectively

  • How to select the right quotes (not just any quote)
  • Breaking quotes into chunks and embedding them smoothly
  • Linking quotes clearly to themes and author intention

Theme Analysis

  • Understanding what themes really mean in the text
  • Connecting events - ideas - author message
  • Explaining why the author presents ideas in certain ways
  • Writing about themes in a way that feels insightful, not obvious

Extra feedback from the VCE English team

This is your chance to:

  • Get feedback on practice paragraphs or essays
  • Ask questions you didn’t want to ask in class
  • Check if your analysis is “on the right track”

More teachers = more perspectives = better writing.
