National Simultaneous Story Time and Buddies
To co-incide with the National simultaneous story tome this year, the grade 5/6 students met with prep/ones to share the story. We all heard or read the story "Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller" and then worked on a task together. Everyone created an animal trading card which highlighted the features of the Australian animal they had selected. Everyone had a great time!




Junior Red Cross
Congratulations to our hardworking Junior Red Cross team for running a highly successful parade and classrrom activity for Yellow Day. As part of Reconciliation week, students dressed in yellow and brought a gold coin donation which will go towards raising money for First Nations children's education and wellbeing.
To follow this up, JRC leaders conducted an activity in all classrooms. Every grade produced a poster showing our hands "All in" as this was the theme for Reconciliation week this year.


Math
We concluded our work on Chance with some more fun activities involving smarties and an Indigenous game called Weme, and moved on to a unit of work about angles. We have all used a protractor to measure and create angles and learnt more about different types of triangles and their interior angles.
Language
Both classes are working towards presenting their class plays to family and friends at the end of the term. We have practised reading lines with different emphasis on different words and observed the different feeling this portrays. We have also looked at scenes from each character's point of view.
Humanities
Our work in Humanities has centred around the decisions we make when spending our money. We talked about wants and needs and researched some items we might like to buy. The conversation was very interesting as students were able to identify that not all expensive items were considered 'needs'.
