District Athletics
A huge congratulations to our young athletes that participated in District athletics on Thursday 3rd September. I am so proud of our young people who strive to do their best, push themselves to compete in even the most gruelling events, brave the cold weather and represent our school with pride.
Congratulations and good luck to Alana and Maya who have proceeded through to the Division Athletics held in the first week back next term.
Camp Manyung – What an Adventure!
What an incredible few days our Year 3–6 students had at Camp Manyung! From start to finish, the camp was filled with laughter, excitement, challenge and plenty of memorable moments.
Our students embraced a fantastic range of challenge activities, pushing themselves outside their comfort zones and discovering what they were capable of. They learnt the importance of trust, teamwork, resilience and supporting one another, while creating unique experiences and memories with their classmates.
The excellent Camp Manyung staff helped make every activity engaging and enjoyable, and the food was a definite highlight too!
It was wonderful to see our students working together, encouraging each other and forming new connections. For a few days, we truly felt like one big, happy family.
A huge thank you to all of the staff including Jason, who gave up their time to attend camp. Your energy, encouragement and care made the experience so special for our students. We couldn’t have done it without you! What a camp to remember!
Welcome to 2 new families at BPS
We welcome 2 new families to our Bittern school community.
Frayah in year 1 and Ollie in year 1.
A warm welcome to both students and their families. We are delighted that you have joined us and look forward to getting to know both children and their families better.
We hope you have had a great first 2 weeks at Bittern PS.
A Busy 3 Weeks!
The last few weeks have been full of exciting activities, including Book week, our Snag and Sport Day for Fathers Day and our Whole school Swimming program. No wonder everyone is a little weary and ready for the holidays. I have been so impressed with the reslience and stamina of our students as they engaged with these high level and demanding activities. It has been great to see our school values of Respect, Connect, Inspire and Achieve at work in so many different ways over the last 3 weeks.
Facilities Update
Just a reminder that our Welcome Court project commences over the school break.
We are replacing the current area with a new aggregate pathway, flag poles, seating and lighting. Next to the pathway, there will be a landscaped area with garden beds and grassed sections.
Where possible, the builders will minimise disruption to usual school days once we return to school. We will work closely with them to manage disruptions when they are unavoidable. There may be some changes to the entry and exit points of our school in the first week back in Term 4. I will send out communications before we commence next term.
Tree removals
To support upcoming works, an arborist has identified 2 trees for removal. The condition of trees and safety requirements informed this decision.
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) has worked with the arborist to keep as many trees as is safely possible. At least 2 trees of a comparable species will be planted for every tree removed, in line with the VSBA’s tree removal and replacement policy.
We are very excited for this project to be completed. It will greatly enhance the front of our school and provide a welcoming area for parents to drop off and collect their child/ren each day.
A reminder to participate in the 2026 Parent/Carer Opinion Survey
At this stage we have only 10 out of 46 families that have completed the survey.
Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.
The survey will be conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete.
The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey closes on Friday 18 September 2026.
